| Home comforts include a stainless-steel kitchen sink, inside and outside shower, slide-out internal toilet, fresh-water drinking fountain and upright fridge-freezer. We camp in the truck campers we manufacture, so we can use our own experience to help design the best campers on the market using time tested construction techniques and quality materials. An example is that some utes overload their front axles if a steel winch bar, side rails, winch and second battery are fitted. Others, with short wheelbases, overload their rear axles with only a modest payload in their trays.
With heaps of options available, our slide on campers can be provided as a shell ready for a DIY project or fully complete and ready to hit the road. The Trailblazers RV Slide-On range includes hard wall or pop-top slide on ute camper campers to suit single, extra & twin cab tray vehicles. The ‘clamshell’ moulded fiberglass construction of the Northern Lite campers makes them the strongest yet lightest slide on truck camper available.
Aussies who like to explore or work usually prefer flat trays for their utes compared to a style side tub because they are more practical and versatile with the types of loads you can carry. The tray-style camper is usually called a slide on, referring to the action of sliding the camper onto the flat-bed platform. That said, they are also ideal for the camper who wants to tow a boat or horse float, as well as accommodation for people. A trailer can have extra axles, wheels, tires, brakes, and suspension that can substantially increase your risk of equipment failure.
We spend the time to show you how everything works, generally over a few days and usually camped close by. It takes a bit of time to learn how to load and unload the camper properly and to become comfortable with the whole setup. Even after this we are available 7 days a week if you need to ask a question or if you have a problem.
When it comes to turnbuckles, you might be wondering what design will work best for your application. Because there are several different types of turnbuckle models for different types of slide on camper hold downs, we are here to help you determine what type of camper turnbuckles you will need. Below is a short list of the different kinds of tie downs for slide on campers that you will run into and what each of them do.
Unexpected hurdles can disrupt even the most solid travel plans. We’re here to get you back on the road sooner with our nationwide network of expert repairers and claims assessors. We’ll cover reasonable costs of up to $1,000 if emergency repairs are required to transport your slide on following an incident you’re covered for. We can provide cover for alternative accommodation expenses of up to $150 a day for 30 days if your slide on isn’t fit to live in after a collision, impact, fire or theft. The Hawk is lightweight, yet strong and competitively priced. You can specify anything from an empty box to a fully kitted out module.
Cockatoo Campers are the most reliable and solidly made outdoor lifestyle products made in Australia. They are designed by people who really know the outback and what types of terrain and conditions can be faced whilst traveling. The Wombat Glide-on campers are built to order, so you know you’re getting something that’s tailored to you. Compared to Slide on campers, On Back Campers' installation doesn’t need to replace or modify your UTE tray to flatbed/tray.
The elegant solution is a simple, manual mechanism that avoids these risks altogether. Or at least a manual override that allows you to use the camper even if the electrics were to fail. There are very few class 3 campers that you can carry on a 1 tonne ute without exceeding your GVM.
The inserts fill the space between the two beds so that the mattresses can be turned sideways and then pushed together to form a bed which is the width of a Queen-size bed. The mattresses would be 1880 mm long but when placed crossways there would be an extra 150 mm of length available, so with a pillow over the gap, the length available would be greater than that of a Queen bed. The awning extension slides into a sail track fixed to the roof so that it can hang down to the ground over the three sides of the fold out awning. These can be pegged to the ground to make an enclosed area at the back of the slide on except for the area underneath the vehicle. The sides can be extended out horizontally and poles inserted at the edges with ropes pegged to the ground to hold the poles upright.
GVM upgrades are available for most 4X4 utes, so if you do need one for your chosen camper, factor it in to the cost. You can even plug in things like TVs, laptops and other electrical gear so your teenagers won’t miss out on any Outback Facebook updates. While the single bed sleeping and fold-out tent option may not be for everyone, you have to appreciate the out-of-the-box engineering and sheer ability to fit 10kg of features into a 5kg bag. Most slide-ons will only take a few minutes from putting your vehicle in park to being ready for a good night’s sleep, and some of them don’t even require setting up at all.
While the ‘amorphous blob’ look may not be for everyone, it’s apparently designed that way for maximum aerodynamic efficiency. It’s big too, able to sleep up to four people and the interior appointments let you know you’re in serious glamping territory. Also, it doesn’t require any lifting or folding, so set-up time is literally nil. If that’s not enough, it also lifts itself off your ute tray using electromechanical legs via remote control.
The perfect upgrade to maximize the functionality of your Ute or light truck is with a dynamic canopy. With customizable dimensions to match your vehicle and unmatchable strength. A fully welded one piece frame is constructed using a combination of sheet metal, RHS and custom patented extrusions forming the foundation for our campers.
I bought some accessories from Earthcruiser, they promptly expedited the goods and confirmed receipt. I was very happy with the quality of my purchase and their customer service. It depends on the truck, the truck’s rated payload, and the size and weight of the camper you have in mind. Most half-ton pickup trucks out there, however, have much less payload, usually around 1,600 pounds.
The moulded fibreglass construction makes it best suited to all Australian road and off road conditions. Boasting the largest range of standard features in a slide on camper, these Australian Ultimate models are the complete package. Absolutely everything listed in the Standard Features is included with the camper. We don't sell you a camper then tell you it costs extra for an air conditioner, awning, turnbuckles, battery, gas bottles, etc etc etc. Spearheading the product range, the Express XPS unit has been designed to fit most utes and pick-ups available in Australia, whether fitted with a ute tub or tray body. | | |
